At Sorgeba Farmers Cooperative Union, we are more than just a coffee supplier; we are custodians of one of Ethiopia’s last wild coffee forests and champions of sustainable livelihoods.
Nestled within the lush, biodiverse region of Ilubabor, our cooperative brings together passionate smallholder farmers dedicated to producing exceptional, traceable coffee while safeguarding the environment for generations to come.
Founded on the principles of quality, transparency, and social responsibility, Sorgeba empowers its members by providing the tools, knowledge, and market access they need to thrive in the global coffee industry.
Our Journey
Sorgeba was born from a vision: to bridge the gap between smallholder coffee farmers and global markets, enabling them to prosper while preserving their unique cultural heritage.
Established in 2012, Sorgeba Farmers Cooperative Union represents the collective strength and unity of over 150 member cooperatives spanning 13 woredas in the Ilubabor zone of Ethiopia's Oromia region.
The name "Sorgeba" itself is a testament to our deep connection to the land. Inspired by the life-giving Sor and Geba rivers that flow through this fertile region, it symbolizes our commitment to nurturing sustainable growth, mirroring how these rivers sustain the surrounding forests and communities.
Where We Work
Sorgeba operates in the heart of Oromia’s coffee-growing region, with our headquarters in in Metu Town. Our reach extends across the diverse landscapes of Yayo, Hurumu, Metu, Bilonopa, Alle, Bacho, Alge, Bure, Daremu, Doreni, Didu, Halu, and Nono Sale districts
Each area contributes to the vibrant mosaic of coffee profiles that define the Sorgeba experience, from wild forest coffee to semi-forest and garden coffee systems.
